Thru the Back Door

In common with most country homes,
everyone comes straight to the back door.

My Utility Room houses racks for coats and wellies and Bruce's tack,
and the washing machine tucked into a corner.

The carpet is sufficiently elderly that no-one is precious about muddy boots!

This old sewing-pattern cupboard is SO useful for keeping all the
household paraphanalia in one easy-to-find place.

A quirky old set of pencil drawings with handwritten captions,
still in their original "economy" Passepartout frames.

I love aged writing, and all my old signs have have gathered here
giving the room a loosely grouped theme. . .

. . .Estate Agent's sign. . .Edwardian shop window price label. . .

. . .a Bournemouth hotel guest-room list. . .

. . .this old theatrical trunk makes a roomy boot box.

Lots more drawers for hats gloves scarves, walking socks.
(Unintentionally this pic looks a bit "posed"!)

Kit's feather cushion on top with a grand view over the back garden.

She prefers to do Sentry Duty in the warm!

Thanks for letting us peek into your utility room, love the hotel sign, would have to move one of those room numbers each time I passed by and the hares head made me smile how quirky is that.

Great selection of signs & other covet-able goodies! My cat Boris is sitting on the PC printer on sentry duty looking out of the window as I write this!

What a great collection, the old theatrical trunk is wonderful and I love all your signs. You have inspired me to sort out my utility room which seems to have become a bit of a dumping ground. I have various pictures I keep saying I will put up once I get round to painting it.

Everybody comes thrue the back door as well here in my village. Problem is that they stand in my kitchen first. So the children leave all their stuff nd mum has to clean up :((. Wish i had a utility room like you have. Ilove all your signs and the trunk is my favorite! xx

How many times did I sigh 'Wow!' as I read this post? The entrance sign, the hotel guest-list, the theatre trunk. Oh such fantastic treasures. You lucky girl. xx

wow- thanks for all these lovely comments.
I'm so pleased you all like the trunk best, as do I, cos to be quite honest (which I wasn't at the time with Ted!) it cost an absolute FORTUNE!
All the other bits n bobs have been gathered over the years from fleamarkets, bootsales, auctions and clearances but I found the trunk at a VERY posh antiques fair and I was NOT leaving without it- and the dealer knew that only too well!

What neat treasures and collections you have! I love the pattern storage drawers. Although, I'd have to put labels on the outside of each drawer for fear of never finding what I put inside!

I love all the signs! And lots of small drawers make me very happy indeed. (Maybe it's the thought of the treasure within!) A great little room!
