I brought a stack of these fab, original 1970s
Vintage wooden Coca-Cola crates
back with me from our holiday in New York.

(yes I know most people's holiday souvenirs
are somewhat smaller, lighter and easier to pack. . .)

I've kept some as quirky Retro kitchen storage,
and listed the rest for sale this week
over on tedandbunny.

As soon as I took them outside to photograph,
Hennypenny decided to investigate
a high-rise nest box.

Prospective buyers rest assured
that the crates come WITHOUT
a slightly batty ex-bat hen!

Wow, they are great but how on earth did you pack them in in your suitcase?

Well, look at you with your new look blog! Lovely!

Love those crates and am obviously wondering the same as Annie re how you got them home on a plane? :O)

Just a bit worried that the New Look blog is a bit posh for me!

The crates were packed in the main suitcases in lieu of clothes (please note here, Ted's clothes, not mine! [I didn't tell him til we got home- packers perks!])and we wrapped 2 each as hand luggage- they fitted in the overhead lockers with an inch to spare.
Our flight back was delayed 5 hours and they justed wanted to get everyone loaded without too many lengthy checks.
I think we were very lucky, because there was no Plan B!
Had the plane gone into the sea, we would've floated home on our Coca-Cola rafts!

Ted says he quite likes the look of everything stacked neatly in the larder, but he's getting funny looks turning up for work in his bath robe :))))
A mere inconvenience!

Love the crates, but of course I am just as impressed that you have a Henny Penny, too! Love the new layout, btw.

Smashing new look! What a great find with your Coke crates. Our hens would probably have done the very same.

Henny Penny is wonderful and has a lovely sense of what makes a great home, but it's a little disconcerting to see the 70's mentioned as 'Vintage', after all I was a young teenager then and I don't feel much older now and I certainly don't feel vintage, I must be antique ;-)

Hennypenny is so cute in that crate !
Lovely new lay-out, the birds are pretty and I love the soft blue color.
Nice weekend,

Go for it girl, I once bought a hand painted table back in my suitcase and on one trip to the states we had 16 bags between 4 of us to carry home, those were the days.... My motto is where there is a will there is a way.

AWW! Henny Penny would be so happy laying her eggs in a Coke crate! How on earth did you get those home from the US? Did you leave all your clothes here?

Autumn Mist: our HP sends her love to your HP!

Sherri B: I've SO enjoyed reading (and trying) your recipes

Blue Dragon Arts: Ditto with 1970s teenage age- personally I feel prehistoric!

Sylvia: Thankyou for the kind comments, the birds are beautiful- a length of antique French fabric which I wish I had never sold on!

The crates are brilliant. It seems you now have to do a post on how you got them home because I'm adding my voice to ''
I'm also laughing because I can imagine my husband's face if I presented these on holiday to be taken back home! :)

YOU ARE A CLEVER GIRL! I HAVE SOME OF THOSE CRATES. I'D HAVE SENT THEM TO YOU IF I'D KNOWN YOU LIKE THEM. HMMMM I'll have to send you something else I think you might like.
I see how you think of 4 as a sail boat. never thought of that! Again, it never helped me remember any thing for math...just made up stories in my head about the figures!

I like your new blog layout but I miss those ladies running with the parcels to the post!
That's what endeared me to you...but it doesn't matter...I'm endeared to you for life!
