Towards a Still Mind

Today, I've done what I keep putting off.

It may not sound like a big step to you but I'm positively a-glow with Good Intentions.

Drained of energy, I realised yet again how much time I spend rushing around in my mind, and its exhausting me.
Even when I'm doing, I'm thinking about doing something else or about what I should have done, or could have done or what I did wrong or how I could do it differently.
Not to mention all the ideas and plans and schemes for both home and business. . .
That inner voice simply will not stop.

I would like to take a holiday from myself.

I try to be aware of Mindfulness and then become frustrated because the thoughts still keeping surging in, all shouting ME ME ME and I use "switch-off time" (i.e bedtime. . .bad idea) to catch up with the important things I didn't have time to think about because my mind was so busy with trivia clamouring to be processed.

So, fed-up with repeating the tired old mantra
"I'll sort out some me-time and learn how to be calmer",  this morning I followed a link sent by a friend (how well she knows me) to
Get Some Headspace
and registered for the 10 day led-meditation which is free.

My overdue journey towards a still mind couldn't have been simpler.

Just 10 minutes a day they say.
I'll let you know how much difference it makes.

Oh please do let us know. I was dignosed with ADHD about 8 yrs. ago and that is what I live with all of the time so I gather as much of this type of information as I can get and really do try to apply it (as life is out of control if I don't). Thanks for thinking of us as I'm sure everyone could use new helpful hints. Have a great Monday.

Hi Elaine!
Such a good idea, well done for signing up to do this. It isn't easy to do the things which will help us be serene and calm, is it? There's always something else to do... I hope you get on really well with the meditation, it certainly is powerful stuff and I hope it will help to switch off all those clamouring thoughts.

Elaine, thats what comes from being self employed and running a small business! I'm just glad I'm not the only one. For me writing lists works and then being self motivated to complete them...that of course is the hard bit...but I'm getting there. As for calming myself...I take a few minutes a day looking out of the window watching the trees blowing about or just staring into space...oh dear I sound a bit of a noodle! I will read with interest your progress (might enrol myself). Lucyxx

Hi dear. Thanks for sharing this, Lord knows i could do with a bit of headspace. Don't know when but i'm definately going to try this.And the picture, yeah it's still here and whenever my brother visits i avoid the subject of a "hang trial " (don't know if this is English so please excuse me ) at his home completely !

I really hope this works - I should meditate - my head is very fuggy at the moment and I'm exhausted all the time but doing very little. I did go on a retreat where there was meditation but I didn't know how to do it properly !

Funny about the dwarf egg - I said to my daughter that the hen must have farted it out !!!

Sound like it will be useful, will wait with interest for the verdict. I am always full of good intentions and then fail half way thru.

PS Love the photos of Bruce your horse, especially the goodbye!! :-) How is his leg doing?

I would love some space in my head - no matter how hard I try I just cannot switch off. Reading the comments it looks like a lot of us like minded ladies have the same problem. Let us know how you do and if successful you can be the first of us all with calm in your life.

Sounds like 'just what the doctor ordered' Hope it is the gateway to something good for you. Glad you liked the string tin, I feel I am not on my own now with my strange desires. My family often think I am mad when my wish list contains things like this. At the moment I have listed a jam pan, sieve, bedside cupboards and a doormat....all the girly things one would wish for ...he.he!!
