not quite Jimmy Choos. . .Bruce's new shoes

I spend more on Bruce's shoes than I would ever dream
of spending on mine. . .

The farrier's van is a fully fitted mobile forge

Bruce's farrier Kirk Dexter calls every 6 weeks to apply a new set of shoes.
Bruce stands patiently; nothing in the shoeing process is painful
and Kirk is very calm and considerate

the shoes take about an hour and a half to fit. . .
tea drinking and gossip takes a bit longer!

and last but not least. . .the most important person
Stanley the farrier's terrier!

Love these, Elaine. I can hear the sounds and I can certainly smell that acrid smell - great memories. Bruce is looking very well - lovely shiny coat, give him a hug from me.

Lovely post. I've been meaning to do this myself but couldn't think how apart from loads of pics of my farrier's bottom (no bad thing in itself, obviously!) Please, when you get a mo, could you pop over to my blog and read my entry for Sunday. We had a bit of a trauma!

Lucky Bruce! Wish I could have as many new pairs of shoes! What with shoes & rugs they have a better wardrobe than us!
Dylan has managed to make two big rips in his new ourdoor rug - ungrateful beast!

Great post! I collect and restore vintage dolls. Sometimes their shoes cost more than mine too! SueXXX

The back end shot made me blush, lol.
That was amazing how its become a one stop shop.
I guess its been over 20 years since I have seen someone do that and they would clip the cows toes too. The dogs would take of with clippings like they just got a piece of cake. That was so fun, thanks.

Great pics - very interesting! Is the farrier a traveller? I know someone who edits Travellers' Times (national mag for gypsies and travellers) who might be interested in doing a piece on him.

As a fairly reader I've not seen Bruce before - what a beautiful horse :o) He looks so peaceful standing still for his new shoes....we women would be far more exited with new shoes! Please give him a big hug from me, and I look forward to seeing more of him.
