butter DID melt. . .

Kit, sitting on the upstairs landing windowsill
enjoying the early evening sunshine
looking like Butter Wouldn't Melt. . .

as the mass of feathers that alas was once a bird
lay downstairs awaiting discovery.

Cats.

Our kitchen has been a depository for many dead and live birds, mice, voles, rats and even a squirrel. Our old boy looked very proud of the squirrel but as it was stiff as a board, I'm thinking someone else had done the deed ... we didn't let on that we knew though! x

We don't have a cat but my daughter once kept a dead mouse in her dressing table drawer when she was little for a while. She was so sad when I explained it had to go.

The house I clean on Thursdays has two cats. One has a propensity for taking it's "catch" up into one of the baths to "do the deed" there. I arrive quite often to see the end result smeared all over it........ Little treasures aren't they? (Cats I mean...not the gizzards and innards!) Thanks for the comment on my blog...... I can assure you that I would have no problems dealing with the farrier.....

As the once owner of 4 cats and several kittens over the years, It is a familiar tale! But cats will be cats! Ours are all now sadly gone, though 3 of them lived to be over 20 years old, so they had a good innings.

I seem to bring out the very worst in cats as sadly I have an allergy to them. If I visit a cat owners home (drugged up to the eyeballs with antihistamine) a usually placid puss will propel itself across the room and attach its claws onto my chest while purring into my face! >"O"< Abby xx

Kit is so lovely - such innocence. I LOVE cats and have nearly always had one, but sadly the little 'gifts' that are left for us is probably the only draw back - I think I'll put up with it though ;o)

I love cats but they are so naughty aren't they? I remember Hattie bringing a live mouse in one night and letting it go in our bedroom.....it was very comical with me standing on the bed shrieking and my naked hubby trying to catch it!!!
