After the popping champagne corks at Christmas, our anniversary and New Year, my birthday at the beginning of January always falls a bit flat.
In 2011 I clearly remember saying "you know I'd really like to do something different for my birthday next year". . .
I woke on Saturday morning quite breathless and light headed and didn't put up much resistance when Mark said he was taking me to A & E.
X-Rays showed I had a punctured lung caused by my broken ribs and I spent a very un-jolly weekend strapped to an oxygen mask.
I've been allowed home today but must report back on Wednesday for further X-Rays to check its not collapsed any further.
A birthday to remember for all the wrong reasons- be careful what you wish for!
(and yes to all of you who've asked, I'm afraid Bruce did have a hand [or rather a hoof] in this mishap)

Happy? Birthday, or should I say Birthday wishes to you. You certainly don't muck around do you, if you are going to do something do it big. I hope your lung heals quickly, it must be terribly uncomfortable as well as painful.

Oh bad boy Bruce!! So sorry your birthday was not a happy one. Having been with my husband when he had a total lung collapse, I know how awful this has been for you (well, Mr.B certainly does!).
You have had such a bad start to the new year that hopefully things can only get better. My fingers (and toes) are crossed for you....

O gosh, Elaine. I should discount January and start the year next month. Hope Bruce is suitably sorry.

Elaine, you are in the wars, so sorry to hear your news, not good at all....according to my Gran who has spent a spell in hospital recently,(age 91) the male nurse Brian gives a very good strip wash!! So get yourself all mended quick sharp...and watch out for Brian.....lots of love xx

This is a very painful injury. Years ago I got bucked off at a show. I had 4 broken ribs and a pneumomthorax (collapsed lung). I was in the hospital 4 days, and completely laid up 6 weeks. It hurts to breathe, it hurts to laugh, it hurts to sleep. You have my sympathy, big time.

HI Elaine - hope the recovery is going quickly. Here's how I have done the name thing - hope it helps! I have added my blog name to my photos in two ways. To begin with I found that when I export the photos (to make them smaller to load quicker for anyone who looks at my blog) there was an 'Add watermark' box to tick and type in what you want them watermarked with. But I couldn't chose the font that way, so I now do it when I edit the photos in Picasa. I just chose to add text before saving and exporting them without a watermark. It's a bit laborious, but I like the way it looks! Hope this helps - if I can do it, anyone can!
